Imagine having a touchscreen smartphone that you could fold up.while Google is working on its design of the modular phones called as GOOGLE ARA project , Samsung the Korean Giant is working on new innovative technology of foldable screens . One of the big challenges of a foldable phone is not making the display itself fold - prototypes with foldable screens have existed for years - but making it fold without damaging any components. The source, who claims to have in-depth knowledge of the device, said it is being developed under the code name Project Valley and they added that two versions of the phone are being tested - one with a Snapdragon 620 processor and another with a Snapdragon 820.Elsewhere, the device is rumored to have 3GB of RAM, a microSD card slot and a non-removable battery. Another concept on which companies are working is a concept of Drashphones .It’s a handset that’s meant to combine the clamshell with a flexible handset. This conceptual smartphone is able to bend at 3 points,
The concept behind the Drasphone is combining clamshell (flip) design of the 90s with modern day touchscreen display whiling pioneering flexible display technology.Similar problems have come with these phones i.e. How to counter the problem of folding the screens without damaging the pixels and other components .One concept have been in recent study is "Artificial muscle".
SAMSUNG FOLDABLE PHONES
Samsung has always been at the pinnacle of smartphone display innovation, and a couple of steps ahead of its competitors. The company released the world’s first smartphone with a Super AMOLED display back in 2010, and the world’s first smartphone with a dual-edge curved display, the Galaxy S6 edge, earlier this year.
Now, it is being reported that Samsung is eyeing to launch its first smartphone with a foldable display early next year. According to a tipster from China, who claims to have in-depth knowledge and an early scoop on Project Valley, the device is currently undergoing testing. Apparently, the company is testing the device in two hardware configurations; one with Snapdragon 620 processor and the other with a Snapdragon 820 chipset. The device is, which is said to be launched in January 2016, would sport 3GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, and a non-removable battery.
Emo Pulse
This wristwatch phone is very much sleeker than many other concepts that have
floated through the market. There are plenty of smartwatches out there,
but this watch has a bigger screen and seemingly more versatility. Not
only will it have cool features, it will be using one of the fastest
processors on the market. Using the OMAP 5, this phone will let you
simultaneously display three HD videos or display one on a 3D screen.
This phone will have 4G, of course, and USB 3.0. It will also have 128 –
256GB of internal flash storage for storing your files, most likely
music. The battery will last you about two days. It’s also waterproof!
So far, it looks like you’ll be spending a lot on this little
guy when it comes out at the end of the year.
Philips Fluid
Another design popular in the market is the Philips Fluid Phones , this phone would be an OLED that will be able to bend into something that fits on
your wrist. It’s like the EmoPulse in that way, but it is not meant to
be used while on the wrist and can be laid out flat. This is certainly
one of the more high-fashion designs on this list. We’re pretty sure you could cuff someone in
the face with it, if you had to, as well.
Microsoft DrashPhones
Microsoft also working on the design of the drasphones but not any news from the microsoft. How ever a popular video viral on the You tube by the software Giant has been released proving the fact that they are not behind in the race.
The Wallet Phone
From outside it looks like a normal Wallet but actually its Samsung new design foldable phone called as Wallet Phone.Only this smartphone does something quite surprising: as the recent patent application illustration shows (via Patently Mobile),
the phone can fold right in half, fully covering the screen and making
the phone about half its normal size. That makes it more
pocket-friendly, plus it keeps the display nicely ensconced within the
shell.
Samsung working on rollable device concept might be the most intriguing. You can catch a quick glimpse of it at in the image below , while Samsung showed an updated concept in may 2017.
One version of the rollable phone features a small touchscreen on the
cylinder, with a dialer application and access to various other applications. However, the newer version
shown above appears to be for tablet or television use and doesn't seem
to have app functionality on the tube itself.Samsung may still be finalizing the use cases for these concepts, but
the idea of a slim, travel-friendly tube that unfurls into a full-size,
functional touch screen is very intriguing indeed.
